How AI Can Transform Public Administration: European Apply AI Webinar on 30 September

How can public institutions use artificial intelligence to anticipate challenges, make better-informed decisions and deliver higher-quality services to citizens and businesses?

This question will be at the centre of the upcoming “Apply AI Webinar – Sectoral deep dive: public sector”, organised within the framework of the European Apply AI Strategy. The online event will take place on 30 September 2026, from 10:30 to 11:30 CEST (11:30–12:30 Bulgarian time), and will be livestreamed on YouTube.

The webinar will focus on the practical and responsible adoption of artificial intelligence in public administration. It will explore the potential benefits of the technology alongside the associated risks, institutional readiness and the need for robust governance mechanisms.

One year after the adoption of the Apply AI Strategy, experts will review the progress achieved through its flagship actions and present forthcoming support opportunities. Particular attention will be given to the development and deployment of EU-made, interoperable and open-source AI solutions across the public sector.

The programme will cover:

  • the current state of AI adoption in the public sector and the main expectations placed on public administrations;
  • results and findings from recent European studies;
  • the AI Toolbox for public services – practical tools, guidance and reusable resources for the responsible use of AI;
  • the Public Sector AI and Interoperability Readiness Pathway (PAIR);
  • generative AI pilot projects for public administrations;
  • future steps and opportunities to participate in European initiatives.

The speakers include:

  • Cécile Huet, Head of Unit, Excellence in Artificial Intelligence & Robotics, European AI Office;
  • Sven Schade, Scientific Project Leader for Digital Transformation of Governance & Innovative Public Services at the Joint Research Centre (JRC);
  • Alessio Nardin, Programme Manager in the Interoperability and Digital Government Unit, DG DIGIT.

The webinar will be particularly relevant to representatives of national and local public administrations, public organisations, digital transformation experts, technology providers and innovation-support organisations working with the public sector.

DINT Foundation encourages Bulgarian public organisations and members of the innovation ecosystem to join the discussion and explore the new European instruments supporting the responsible and effective adoption of AI.
