EU-Startups Summit 2026 Brings Europe’s Innovation Ecosystem Together in Malta

On 7–8 May 2026, the EU-Startups Summit returned to Valletta, Malta, bringing together founders, investors, technology companies, innovation organisations, and startup ecosystem leaders from across Europe.

Held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre, the event gathered more than 2,400 participants for two days focused on entrepreneurship, investment, artificial intelligence, digital technologies, and the future of Europe’s innovation economy.

The summit featured keynote discussions, startup showcases, networking sessions, investor meetings, and presentations from emerging European companies working across sectors including AI, SaaS, cybersecurity, fintech, health technology, climate technology, and digital infrastructure.

One of the major highlights of the event was the annual startup competition, where innovative companies from across Europe presented their solutions before investors, industry experts, and ecosystem representatives. This year’s competition winner was AlterEcho, which received the €1 million prize award during the final session of the summit.

Events such as the EU-Startups Summit continue to play an important role in strengthening collaboration between startups, investors, accelerators, research organisations, and digital innovation ecosystems across Europe.

For organisations such as DINT Foundation and EDIH DIGIHUB, participation in international innovation events provides valuable opportunities to:

• connect SMEs with innovation and digital transformation opportunities

The discussions throughout the summit also reflected broader European priorities linked to AI development, digital sovereignty, startup scaling, cybersecurity, access to funding, and technological competitiveness.
