The European Commission has announced the launch of new funding calls under the Digital Europe Programme, making €63.2 million available to support projects focused on artificial intelligence, digital healthcare, online safety, and advanced digital skills across Europe.
The initiative forms part of the European Union’s broader strategy to strengthen digital resilience, accelerate innovation, and support the responsible deployment of emerging technologies throughout the European digital ecosystem.
The newly opened calls target several strategic areas. Among the largest allocations is €24 million dedicated to digital health infrastructure, supporting projects aimed at improving interoperability, healthcare data systems, and digital medical services. Another €9 million has been allocated to artificial intelligence diagnostics, encouraging the development of AI-driven healthcare technologies and advanced diagnostic tools.
The programme also includes €12.5 million for advanced digital skills initiatives, helping strengthen Europe’s workforce in areas such as AI, cybersecurity, and digital technologies. An additional €8.5 million will support tools and solutions related to regulatory compliance and implementation requirements.
According to the European Commission, the calls are intended to support companies, research organisations, innovation hubs, healthcare stakeholders, educational institutions, and public sector actors working on digital transformation and emerging technologies.
The funding opportunities arrive at a time when artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and digital infrastructure continue to play an increasingly important role in Europe’s economic competitiveness and technological development. The programme also reflects ongoing EU efforts to balance innovation with transparency, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance.
Applications for the calls remain open until 1 October 2026.
